For most small business owners, it’s all about offering their customers 24-hour services. They are available and on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. They are always giving their 100%. So is it never okay to take a break?
If you are a small business owner who thinks that doing a certain number of things every day of the year is necessary for you to be successful, then you may be doing something wrong. If you think that your business is going to wither away if you are not on call 24 hours a day, then you need a break.
Being motivated to give your best to your customers is definitely a good thing. But being on your toes at all hours of the day and night is just not good for you or your business.

You go out of your way to meet the demands of your customers, thinking that if you don’t do so even for a single day, they are going to go to your competition. Perhaps they will. But giving yourself a break once in a while is good too.

If you employ staff on your small business, not only do you deserve e break, but they too deserve the same. It is important to understand that no one should be kept on their toes 24 hours a day. When you push yourself harder than you should be doing, it may even lead to a situation where you just break down completely.
It’s not failure if you don’t do everything every single day
This is something that many small business owners feel. They think that if they don’t tick of all the boxes every single day, they are failures. However, the reality is hardly that simple. Some days you may be motivated to do all you possibly can.
Other days, you just do enough to keep afloat. That’s normal.

To be really successful, you need to be happy doing what you do. This means that you need to run your business in the way you are comfortable with. Every business requires a certain amount of down-time, whether it is to get maintenance work done on equipment, to avoid seasonal downturns in the market, or to let the staff go on vacations.
Down-time is essential for any business
It is especially true in case of small businesses where there is a fewer number of staff. Keeping time allotted exclusively for down-time is a good business rule to have. Take off time away from work, whether it is the weekends or for a yearly vacation.
Down-time is not a weak link in your business life cycle. It canvery well be adding to your business’ strength.
