Pests can play havoc on your lives. They can spread diseases, infest every corner of your property, and risk your reputation. If you’re a business owner, a pest problem can harm your establishment and your reputation almost irreparably. Pests can be very sneaky. They can exist in your establishment without your knowledge for weeks before you can spot them.

Dealing with pests is best left to professional exterminators. Here are some signs that you may have a pest problem in need of expert attention.

Mice and Other Rodents

These are perhaps the most irritating of all pests and they can be dangerous to your health too. They’ve adapted enough to avoid all kinds of mousetraps and will continue to haunt you until you find someone to deal with them. As they’re seasonal pests, you’re more likely to find them in your home during the winter or autumn months. It’s too cold outside for them to be comfortable and food can be scarce.

Some of the most blatant signs of their presence IS half-eaten or chewed foodstuff that you might’ve left on your counter, bitten clothes, droppings, and skittering and scratching in the walls as they move. It’s always a good idea to call the professional in to deal with them because ones they settle, they can be very difficult to remove.

Bed Bugs and Fleas

These blood suckers can make your life miserable if you don’t address them quickly. Fleas can carry diseases and are usually present on rodents like mice and rats, and often times, on your pets. It’s important to keep your pets free of fleas, especially during the summer.

Bed bugs, on the other hand, don’t really transmit diseases. However, once they infest your home, they can be very hard to get rid of. They usually prefer to live in beds, cushions, upholstery, etc. They can and will bite you as soon as you come in contact with the infected service. Bites are the most telling evidence of the presence of fleas or bed bugs.

Termites

These are, perhaps, the most damaging pests that can infect your property. That’s because they physically damage it. Termites have great appetites and will eat any wood furniture or fixtures in your home. If left unchecked, they can cause damage worth thousands of dollars. One of the best ways to spot a termite infestation is to look at darker, damper areas of your property, such as places near the heaters.

Termites will also infest fireplaces, floors, windowsills, and foundations, etc. These are one of the few pest problems that could damage the structural integrity of your home or business. It’s always a good idea to call a pest control professional immediately after you spot an infestation.
